To the uninitiated, you might be wondering what is Black Friday? Or White Friday, like we call it in the region. Black Friday is a shopping day for a combination of reasons. As the first day after Thanksgiving, it marks the unofficial beginning of the Christmas shopping season & Cyber Monday is just an extension of that for online businesses.

Why should Black Friday be important for your business? Doesn’t matter if you’re a traditional brick & mortar store or a unique online marketing store like DeDoIt, all kinds of businesses can take advantage of the busiest shopping period in the world.

In 2017, Shopify found that Black Friday generated 3.6x more orders than the average day in November. Cyber Monday wasn’t far behind, generating 3.1x more orders than the average day in November. According to Adobe, Cyber Monday 2016 was the largest online sales day in history with $3.39 billion spent online in a single day, a 10.2% increase year-over-year.

You can also grab a slice of this multi million dollar pie by just avoiding these basic mistakes that marketers make during their Black Friday campaigns:

1.Ensure you have reliable, inexpensive shipping:

Timeliness matters more than ever this time of year. When asked what would make them shop online more often, 90% of surveyed participants said free shipping was the number one incentive.

 2.Prepare yourself for mobile buyers:

More and more people are turning to mobile when shopping online, but mobile conversion rates continue to lag behind. Adobe found that the average conversion rate on smartphones was only 1.9%, less than half the conversion rate on desktop (4.3%). Yet smartphones accounted for 45% of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday traffic. That’s a huge opportunity. Optimize your pages to provide users with a good experience when shopping on your website.

3.Choose the right social networks for you to advertise:

It’s super easy to get carried away and divide your time between too many social networks. Focus on the 1-2 social networks you have, (a) generated the most revenue from and (b) fostered the most engaged communities on. For a company like DeDoIt – LinkedIn is our top go-to social site and the holidays are no exception. After all, 80% of B2B leads come from LinkedIn, and it’s 277% more effective for lead generation than Facebook or Twitter!

4. Don’t forget to create dedicated landing pages:

When you’re promoting your sales on social media, go ahead and create a dedicated landing page for the occasion. Dedicated landing pages allow you to match the message you send on social media to the message your site more closely, allowing for an improved conversion rate.

DeDoIt is having a massive Black Friday/Cyber Monday campaign making marketing services simpler and cost effective for all brands. From 26th November to 30th November: www.dedoit.com/marketingsaleweek! People often don’t expect a B2B marketing company to participate in Black Friday sales, doing so helps us stand apart from others in our niche.
